For over 30 years the Australian Government had produced a Women’s Budget Statement, outlining the impacts of the Budget on women. This Statement was abolished by Tony Abbott in the 2014 Budget. Since then, Labor has put together the Statement from Opposition.
The 2017 Budget has once again highlighted that gender equality is not a priority for the Turnbull Government. Over three-quarters of Treasurer Morrison’s tax cuts for high income earners benefit men, yet sadly, the cuts to the university sector will disproportionately affect women.
I want to make sure you are provided with all the facts about the recent Budget and how it will affect you and our community. Therefore, I am hosting a launch of our Women’s Budget Statement with special guest Senator Claire Moore, Shadow Minister for International Development.
You can find the Women's Budget Statement here.
