A revitalised pedestrian bridge in Sunnybank will improve access and safety and revitalise the Sunnybank business precinct
Member for Moreton, Graham Perrett said this $1 million project to be funded by a Shorten Labor Government would include lifts at each end, the installation of security cameras, as well as a unique dragon design to give the southside an iconic cultural landmark.
“I have been working closely with the southside community for over 10 years. An iconic ‘Dragon Bridge’ would represent the vibrancy and multiculturalism this community has to offer that both locals and visitors can enjoy.
"The pedestrian overpass is used by over 5,000 people every day and the worn facilities are well overdue for an upgrade,” Mr Perrett said.
“The overpass is an important pedestrian link connecting shopping centres on Mains Road, one of Queensland’s busiest suburban roads and bus stops.
The revitalised ‘Dragon Bridge’ will be an iconic structure in the heart of Brisbane’s Chinese and Taiwanese community which will improve access and safety for shoppers including people with a disability, seniors and parents with prams.
"A Shorten Labor government will deliver this project in consultation with local and State government, business groups and the local community.”
